In testimony yesterday, Andrew Clyde (R- GA.) defended his previous statements that the January 6th assault on the Capitol was not any different from an ordinary tourist tour. The primary assumption for his defense was that the rioters remained within the roped stanchions in the capitol hallway. A Nano-second photo of the three-hour attack showed the initial “tourists” charging down the hallway with flags and an assortment of blunt objects just like they always do. Unfortunately, Andy was unable to watch the balance of the videos or listen to the testimony of the four officers on Tuesday, since his eyes were swollen from Peach Fuzz pollen. This seems to be a common affliction in Georgia, as Marjorie Taylor Greene suffers from the same issue. The new Federal budget however, does include an Afrin line item.
Most importantly, the hearings finally give credibility to what constitutes the overthrow of the government or a visit by a group of sightseers. Since most of the five people killed and a substantial number of the 190 police injured in the riot were not within the stanchions, they don’t qualify in the assessment. Certainly, the hangman’s noose and threats of killing various Democrats was just a normal part of any tour. Those would qualify in the definition of “tourist”, since much of that occurred within the stanchions or was outside the building. Certainly, the feces spread over the floor happened because there was a long line for the bathroom. Those kinds of things just happen. Andy was unsure how to defend the smashed windows and doors. Possibly, it was the winter surge of tourists anxious to see the threat to destroy democracy and overturn the election by Andy and his Republican friends.
In other happenings, Lauren Boebert (R- Colo.) was asked to wear a mask in Congress by one of her staff members. She retaliated by throwing the mask back at her. Current experiments in mask throwing indicate that the standard blue mask, unused and without drool, can be thrown three feet or so. Crunched up, the mask can be tossed about six feet. Such a projectile leads one to be cautious about Lauren and her anger, since she has more guns than the U.S. Army. Fortunately, the mask-throwing incident shows all of us that she should not be asked to do anything to help others before 10AM in the morning. Be cautioned also that any such request after lunch (especially at her restaurant) might cause the lead to fly.
One can applaud her confrontational approach to legislation and democrats as refreshing. She probably watched the January 6th attack while Andy was sleeping and was resentful that Colorado had such a poor showing. No one showed up carrying a minimum of ten guns. She also shows a different style from her pal Marjorie who likes to chase the opposition down the halls of Congress while taunting them.
What seems confusing is that the Republican leadership is attacking Nancy Pelosi for the insurrection, while other members of the pack say it was just a normal tourist day in Congress.
